The AVP, Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Support Services is a strategic leader responsible for optimizing and innovating revenue cycle processes across patient access, coding and hospital and professional billing environments. This role oversees the revenue cycle support team, training, vendor management, productivity, quality assurance and home-based support. The AVP choreographs the application governance to drive process improvement, automation, and operational excellence; ensuring alignment with organizational goals and positioning the company as a leader in healthcare revenue cycle performance. The position will interface with ISD, Analytics, Informatics and Quality to coordinate and facilitate RCM optimizations. This role typically reports to the Vice President of Enterprise Revenue Cycle Management.
Minimum Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field; Master's degree (MBA, MHA) preferred.
- Certification in at least one Epic application is strongly preferred.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills :
Ten (10) years of progressive experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, with at least five (5) years in a leadership or strategy role.Strong understanding of RCM operations, payer rules, coding, billing, collections, and compliance.Demonstrated success in leading RCM transformations or optimization programs at scale.Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders.Ability to manage multiple work streams, projects, tasks, and goals.Principal Accountabilities
Strategic Leadership & VisionDefines and executes the strategic vision for end-to-end RCM optimization, including system maintenance, governance, change management, automation and project success.Serves as a thought leader on emerging RCM technologies, particularly within the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.Collaborates with executive leadership to align revenue cycle strategy with overall company objectives.Maintains and executes a strategic roadmap to drive innovation, efficiency, and scalability.Operational Excellence & Process OptimizationDevelops and implements tailored optimization strategies to reduce denials, accelerate reimbursement, and improve KPIs.Oversees all change management activities impacting revenue cycle functions.Ensures seamless integration of Epic applications into revenue cycle operations through training and change management.Team Leadership & TrainingBuilds, leads, and mentors a high-performing team of trainers and auditors to facilitate quality assurance and productivity measurement.Fosters a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability.Manages the selection and delivery of education, training, and resource materials for revenue cycle teams.Uses productivity and quality data to enhance the development of Epic and revenue cycle training.Vendor & Technology ManagementAssesses new technologies, performs vendor assessments, in concert with ISD, Analytics, Informatics, Quality and Finance to coordinate and facilitate RCM optimizations. Creates ROI analyses to support investment decisions.Oversees vendor relationships and recommends new technology solutions to revenue cycle leadership.Works closely with Epic Technical Support, Memorial Hermann ISD to influence product development and enhancements.Develops action plans and communicates resolutions to senior leadership.Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory / continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as a resource to less experienced staff.Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann's service standards of providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and our workforce.Other duties as assigned.Collaborates with revenue cycle leaders to develop productivity and quality standards. Independently reports staff productivity and quality to departmental leaders to facilitate staff performance discussions.
