Ward Clerk
Oneida Health is currently seeking a Ward Clerk to join our team. The Ward Clerk will perform various routine clerical duties and related tasks as directed by the charge nurse. The ideal candidate for this position should have the ability to work independently and provide a positive patient and customer experience. Strong and courteous communication skills are essential for this role, along with proficiency in computer operations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform routine clerical duties under the direction of the charge nurse.
- Demonstrate skill in computer operations, including census changes and electronic data entry.
- Prepare patient charts for admission, transfers, and discharges, and maintain an accurate log of such events.
- Promote and maintain overall cleanliness of the unit, including the nurses' station.
- Secure and transfer medication to and from the hospital pharmacy safely, and perform other inter-department messenger duties as needed.
- Replenish stock items and order office supplies when necessary to ensure adequate inventory levels.
- Maintain entire patient medical records on a shift-to-shift basis, including assembling, labeling, thinning, rearranging, and adding additional sheets / reports as needed.
- Recognize emergent patient care situations and immediately report discoveries to the first available professional.
- Assist with response to call lights and communicate patient needs or concerns to nursing staff in a timely manner.
Qualifications : Education :
High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required).Experience :
Clerical : 1 year (Required).Medical Secretary : 1 year (Preferred).Soft Skills :
Strong communication skills and ability to interact with patients, families, and staff in a courteous manner.Attention to detail and accuracy in performing clerical tasks.Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.Proficiency in computer operations and familiarity with electronic medical records systems.Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and procedures.Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information.Positive attitude and commitment to providing excellent patient care.Physical Requirements :
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.Manual dexterity for operating office equipment and computers.Ability to lift and move light objects.
