CNC Programmer
The Analytical Solutions Division (ASD) of Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc has an exciting opportunity for a full-time CNC Programmer on-site at our west Huntsville, AL location. The CNC Programmer provides on-site comprehensive knowledge of CNC (computer numerical controlled) machinery for fabrication. The CNC programmer will use blueprints, CAD design sketches, and Engineering specifications to for reading and interpreting technical blueprints, inputting the design specifications, adjusting the machine cutting paths, and performing quality checks on the final product. CNC Programmer should have extensive experience working in manufacturing, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work unsupervised. Ultimately, a top-class CNC programmer works quickly and efficiently, ensuring all products meet the specifications of the customer.
Must Haves as a CNC Programmer :
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance from the US Department of Defense
- AAS Machine Tool Technology with CNC programming and 3+ yrs relevant CNC programming for 3 and 5 axis milling machines, lathe / mill-turn work experience, OR
- 6-8 years of recent and relevant CNC programming for 3 and 5 axis milling machines, lathe / mill-turn work experience
- Experience programming for 3 and 5 axis milling machines, lathe / mill-turn, WJ / Laser (as needed), along with any future CNC equipment acquired
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models
- Identify necessary tooling / fixturing required to manufacture parts
- Create / Edit setup sheets / work instructions for CNC machinists or operators to run parts, while ensuring processes are complete and quality of parts are met
- Proficient with multi-axis CAM software
- Experience programming using Mastercam mill / lathe / multi-axis
- Effectively communicate oral and written and engage in process improvements
- Familiarity managing and updating CNC program directory and digital tool libraries
- Provide CNC Programming Training to CNC Machine Operators and / or machinists
- Proof out new programs to ensure safety, quality and reliability
- Job requires occasional pushing, pulling, standing, standing for long periods of time, reaching, grasping, bending, climbing and stooping and candidate must be able to lift to 50lbs individually
- Be physically capable of wearing all required personal protective equipment to include, but not limited to safety glasses, respirator, safety shoes, hearing protection and hand protection as required
