At Stony Brook Medicine Respiratory Care Department, a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist is a valuable member of our team, who provides indirect services and support to the patient population. Duties of a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the Respiratory Care Department may include the following but are not limited to :
The individual filing this position will perform Blood Gas Technician duties including but not limited to : performance of routine test analysis, adhere to all departmental policies and protocols, and apply detailed specialized knowledge of scientific principles and their application to perform advanced level testing in general and specific areas in the Respiratory Care Department. They must also perform and understand all quality control procedures, review the accuracy of final test reports, recognize routine laboratory problems and identifies the cause, and maintain up to date overall knowledge of this professional field as required to perform normal duties described in this job description. Under the general supervision of the department supervisory staff, the TH Clinical Lab Tech II will have responsibilities for the following duties :
Work with Laboratory Information Technology regarding operating systems maintenance and testing.
Qualifications
Required :
SL-1 : NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional / limited permit eligibility with 0-2 years demonstrated relevant experience.
SL-2 : NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional / limited permit eligibility with 3-5 years demonstrated relevant experience.
SL-3 : NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility, including provisional / limited permit eligibility with a minimum 6 years demonstrated relevant experience.
Preferred : MT / MLS (ASCP) Certification or equivalent.
Preferred additional chemistry or blood gas analysis experience.
Working knowledge of blood gas analyzers.
Experience using and maintaining hospital information and operating systems.
Experience with various computer programs (Excel, EP Evaluator, etc.)

Anticipated Pay Range :
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $89,142 - $113,055 Base
The above salary range represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate's validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.
