Role Purpose

The Forming Department Manager is responsible for providing technical input and solutions for improving productivity and efficiencies in Forming, Reforming, Fluoride crystals, and the mason shop. This individual will be responsible for ensuring a motivated and skilled workforce and will directly supervise the department P&Ms, team lead, and A&T's. The individual will be required to assess skills, write performance reviews and recommend and / or provide training to ensure department personnel are technically competent to perform assigned tasks in the facility. The Corning Canton facility is a continuous operations facility.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in fluoride crystals, reforming, forming, and the mason shop to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. Establish priorities and works closely with Plant Engineering Manager, Plant Operations Manager, and the HR Manager to ensure the effective utilization of available resources. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Work with support functional groups to ensure manufacturing plans are executed per cost and schedule goals of the plant. Lead projects that support manufacturing needs. Oversee projects within their production departments to ensure critical path, milestones and objectives are met. Receives and gives work assignments with general instructions. Directs subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies. Interact with subordinate supervisors, outside customers and functional peer groups at management levels - interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others, conducting presentations of technical information concerning specific projects / schedules, etc. Provides immediate supervision to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks, and checking work at frequent intervals. Encompasses the direction and inspection of the performance of individuals or a team of associates who put together components to make assemblies, subassemblies, or completed units, or make or process raw materials into finished products in an industrial environment.

Experiences / Education - Required

Bachelor's degree

3 years in prior supervisory or military leadership experience

Ability to lead multiple groups of teams to drive improvements

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business documents.

Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

Ability to effectively present information to groups.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills

Outstanding organizational and time management skills

Experiences / Education - Desired

Bachelor's degree in engineering.

Supervisory experience in a 24 / 7 manufacturing environment.

Proven ability to manage teams of 50+ direct reports.

Union experience.

Strong project management skills.

The range for this position is $118,428.00 - $162,839.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
