ASCP Sterile Processing Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Gather used and contaminated equipment for sorting and thorough decontamination.
• Manually clean instruments, removing contaminants and waste, while operating sterilization machinery.
• Prepare and package supplies for sterilization, ensuring proper wrapping and organization into instrument trays.
• Monitor sterilization equipment performance and promptly report any malfunctions or issues.
• Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory management.
• Control inventory levels by reordering supplies and checking expiration dates regularly.
• Support surgical and medical teams by preparing necessary instruments and medical carts for procedures.

Education

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Certification in sterile processing (e.g., CBSPD or IAHCSMM) is preferred.

Experience

Previous experience in sterile processing or a related healthcare environment is highly valued.
