• Base Pay Range : $36.40 / hour\n\n
• Special Pay : Additional $3.00 per hour premium pay\n\n
• Shift Differentials : Additional $2.75 per hour for evening shift, additional $4.00 per hour for night shift, and additional $3.00 per hour for weekend shift.\n\nABOUT MISSOURI PSYCHIATRIC CENTER (MUPC)\n\nThe Missouri Psychiatric Center offers short-term, intensive inpatient treatment services for adults, adolescents and children at our facility adjacent to University Hospital in Columbia, MO. The center's 61 inpatient beds are divided among three units. A 17-bed unit serves pre-adolescents, ages 5-12, and adolescents, ages 13-17, two units with a total of 44 beds serve adults. The MU Psychiatric Center also offers an emergency room assessment unit for both adult and pediatric patients to help with crisis stabilization, intake and discharge planning for patients. We provide special training in non-violent crisis intervention (Crisis Prevention Institute) and additional special training in behavioral therapy, therapeutic communication, group skills, and more!\n\nABOUT THE JOB\n\nMU Health Care is looking for a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our nursing team. Here, you can define your career among our many clinical and nonclinical positions — with growth, opportunity and support every step of the way.\n\nLearn more about MU Health Care.\n\nLearn more about living in mid-Missouri.\n\nDETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION\n\nProvides clinical patient care within the scope of a Registered Nurse, including assessment of condition, goal setting, and nursing actions to meet the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient.\n\nAssesses, intervenes, and reassesses patient self-report and symptoms of pain promptly, utilizing an appropriate tool for assessment and reassessment.\n\nDemonstrates an understanding of medications about action and side effects. Report pertinent information to the appropriate individual.\n\nEducates patients and support person(s) about medications.\n\nDemonstrates the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes.\n\nMaintains the standards of nursing care and implements policies and procedures of MU Health Care and assigned nursing unit.\n\nReports pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e. resident physician, ancillary support teams) and records those observations accurately and concisely.\n\nMaintains the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and assigned nursing unit.\n\nParticipates in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups.\n\nMay complete unit / department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.\n\nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\n\nMissouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.\n\nOne (1) year of RN experience.\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\n\nAdditional license / certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.\n\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\n\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.\n\nThis role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
