Job Title :

  • Hybrid Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) / CD Tech Location : Citadel / Perspectives Department : Clinical Services Reports To : CPRS Supervisor and / or Clinical Supervisor FLSA Status : Exempt Employment Status : Part-Time (up to 30 hours a week) Position Overview :   The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) provides peer-based recovery support services to individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
  • This position uses lived experience, combined with peer recovery training, to inspire hope, promote wellness, and assist clients in navigating early recovery.

The CPRS serves as a role model, advocate, and mentor to help clients develop recovery goals, connect to resources, and strengthen their recovery capital in alignment with their individualized treatment plans.   Essential Duties and Responsibilities CPRS Duties and Responsibilities include :

  • Provide one-on-one peer support to clients, drawing from lived experience in recovery to build rapport and promote hope.
  • Assist clients in identifying recovery goals and action steps consistent with their values and treatment plan.
  • Support clients in navigating treatment services, community resources, sober housing, employment, education, and healthcare.
  • Promote client engagement by reducing barriers to treatment and enhancing motivation.
  • Model healthy boundaries, self-care, and positive communication in all client interactions.
  • Participate in team meetings and collaborate with clinical staff.
  • Document peer support interactions in a timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate manner in accordance with agency standards.
  • Maintain client confidentiality per HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 guidelines.
  • Uphold ethical standards and professional responsibilities per the MN Certification Board  Attend required supervision, staff trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Support culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and person-centered care in all aspects of service delivery.
  • CD Tech Duties and Responsibilities include :

  • Facility Monitoring & Safety Conduct regular wellness checks and facility walk-throughs to ensure a safe, structured environment.
  • Monitor client behavior and address concerns promptly using trauma-informed, recovery-focused approaches.
  • Respond to emergencies and de-escalate situations as needed, following agency protocols.
  • Encourage engagement in daily programming and redirect behaviors that interfere with recovery goals.
  • Provide support during distress or dysregulation while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Escort clients to internal appointments when assigned.
  • Help build early rapport and support a smooth transition into treatment.
  • Help maintain cleanliness of shared spaces and ensure client chores are completed.
  • Identify and report maintenance or safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical staff and peers to support consistent care and safe Work Environment and Physical Requirements This position involves in-person client interactions and may require occasional telehealth work.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during sessions, outreach, or events.
  • May involve travel to off-site locations including community resource agencies, sober housing, or events.
  • Frequent use of computers and office equipment for documentation.
  • Environment may include exposure to emotional or high-stress situations requiring de-escalation and professionalism.
  • Interaction with individuals at varying stages of recovery, including those experiencing mental health symptoms or withdrawal.   Preferred Qualifications :

  • Previous experience working or volunteering in a peer support or human services setting.
  • Familiarity with co-occurring disorders and recovery-oriented systems of care.
  • Knowledge of community resources including housing, employment, and healthcare supports.
  • Training in trauma-informed care, harm reduction, or motivational interviewing.
  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • MUST pass DHS clearance to work directly with clients.   Compensation and Benefits This is a part-time, non-exempt position.
  • Compensation is based on experience and certification status as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS).
  • Starting pay :
