Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Identity)

Overview

Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Identity) at Affirm. Identity Engineering owns the systems responsible for onboarding all consumers and managing their authentication and verification journeys across Affirm’s product surfaces. The role focuses on delivering high-availability and low-latency systems on critical paths for our products.

What You'll Do

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems, and support teammates throughout delivery.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics; participate in ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on decisions that consider risks and trade-offs.
• Proactively identify project, process, technology or business issues, advocate for them, and lead in solving them.
• Support the operations and availability of your team’s artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting on-call efforts.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership by establishing or improving code review and design standards and advocating for them beyond the team.
• Help develop talent on the team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example.

What We Look For

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Grade - N; Equity Grade - 8. Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents). USA base pay ranges : CA / WA / NY / NJ / CT : $190,000 - $240,000; all other U.S. states : $169,000 - $219,000. Affirm also provides remote-first policies with some roles office-based as needed.
