# of Beds : 12 (in summer census is around 4, and winter months 6).

Nurse : Patient Ratios : 1 : 2

Required Certifications : BLS, PALS

Common diagnoses / Types of patients : Trach / vent, DKA, respiratory, surgical (trachs, g-tubes, shunts, hernia repairs, seizures) no cardiac.

Experience or 'Must have' skills : MUST have 2 years of PICU experience. Ok with first time travelers.

Are RNs required to titrate drips : Yes

Common titratable & / or set rate drips : propofol, fentanyl, epi, etc.

Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Yes, no assignment.

Are there nurse aids / patient care techs on this unit : No

Pediatrician in house 24 / 7 : In house during the day, may occasionally take call from home at NOC.

RT Equipment : Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? Vent, bubble CPAP, BiPAP. - Are there tele / monitor techs on this unit : Yes, RNs read and interpret their own strips.
