Experience : 2 years of Acute care experience required

License : Current and valid Respiratory Care license

Certifications : BLS, ACLS, PALS, Current and valid NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification

Must-Have : Vent management and ability to perform ABGs required; High Acuity experience required

Description :

The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides and administers all aspects of Respiratory Care Therapy and supportive equipment as stated in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual.

Providing respiratory therapy under medical direction, in the education, treatment, management, and diagnostic evaluation and care of patients in the hospital with deficiencies of the cardiopulmonary system.

Performing intubation assistance as well as ventilator setup and management.

Gathering all information necessary to properly evaluate the patient's needs, including patient-specific disease education as well as testing and consultations with other health care professionals, as appropriate.

Developing a rapport and mutual respect with the patient / caregiver, as well as team members, to foster an optimum environment in support of goal achievement.

Providing and documenting education to patients / caregivers based upon identified needs in an understandable manner.

Other duties and / or projects as assigned.

Adhering to organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 5 lbs., and standing a minimum of 1 hour a day.

Schedule includes three 12-hour shifts, must be flexible with the schedule.

Every other weekend or as needed.

Holidays required.

On-call requirement : minimum once weekly.

The ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing patient needs is required.

A strong sense of accountability for improving the lives of patients and caregivers is essential.

An exceptional focus on teamwork and the passion to deliver the highest quality of care based on a strong sense of patient focus are also required.
