Job Title : Wound and Ostomy Registered Nurse Profession : Nursing Specialty : Wound and Ostomy RN Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Days Hours per Shift : 5 x 8 - 6 : 45 am - 3 : 00 pm Experience : Minimum of 2-3 years License : Registered Nurse License Certifications : Wound Care Certification preferred Must-Have : Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing Description : The Wound and Ostomy Registered Nurse establishes satisfactory interpersonal relationships with co-workers and colleagues, patients, families, and significant others. Initiates communication with patients and families to determine individual needs. Initiates communication with co-workers and colleagues in other disciplines and departments to share and exchange ideas and information about related activities and needs. Provides detailed patient education to patients and family members during inpatient stays and at the time of discharge following prescribed teaching plans. Responds effectively, both verbally and non-verbally, to communications from patients, families, significant others, colleagues, department heads, supervisors, and physicians. Demonstrates sensitivity to the values of self and others in decision-making. Involves patients and families in care plans, incorporating their cultural, spiritual, and belief systems. Requires ability to prioritize and problem-solve. Must be able to relate collaboratively with the healthcare team. Physical demands involve standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, and bending. Bachelor's Degree is required, with a Master's Degree in Nursing preferred. Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification is required in specialty areas. Wound and Ostomy Certification is preferred.
