Travel experience required. Description : Unit has 32 beds. Nurse to patient ratios are 1 : 6. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS. Common diagnoses include surgical, orthopedics, urology, and medical patients. Age-specific population includes adults and geriatrics, focusing on hips, shoulders, and knees. Experience in the care of post-operative and medical patients is essential. RNs are required to titrate drips, including heparin based on protocol. Preference is given to those with cardiac drip experience. Remote telemetry monitoring is provided 24 / 7 by a dedicated monitoring team. Charge RN monitors telemetry strips. Charge nurse roles may include a modified patient assignment, usually 2 patients. Travelers may be asked to take on charge nurse responsibilities. Cross-training may be available. House supervisor is present 24 / 7. Nurse aide ratios are 1 to 10. Respiratory equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, IV pumps, pulse oximetry, and sequential compression devices. Scheduler considers requests, while maintaining unit needs. Weekend requirement involves set rotations every other weekend. Holiday requirement includes rotating with core staff and allows for preference in scheduling after a certain period of employment. If not needed on the unit, floating to other units may be required. Scrub colors include navy for RNs and LPNs. Nurse aides and monitor techs wear dark grey or pewter scrubs. Scrubs must be solid without embroidery or patterns. Fleece zip-ups may be worn in specific colors. Closed-toed shoes are mandatory. An abbreviated initial skills checklist is due 90 days from the start date.
