About the Project

We are piloting a 6–9 month coworking and community hub in New York City to support professionals focused on AI safety, animal welfare, effective giving, and other high-impact causes. The space will provide a productive, professional environment and serve as a hub for collaboration across events and programs.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Community Manager to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the coworking hub. This person will play a vital role in shaping the member experience — combining warmth, attentiveness, and professionalism to create an environment where people feel both welcome and able to focus on their work. The Community Manager will act as both host and steward of the space : greeting members and guests, fostering a sense of connection, and keeping operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Frontline Operations : Serve as the primary point of contact for members, guests, and vendors; manage daily operations (e.g. catering, guest management, room bookings) with professionalism and hospitality.
  • Facilities Management : Oversee the upkeep of the space, including supplies, equipment, and vendor coordination.
  • Membership Support : Welcome and onboard new members, support their integration into the community, and respond promptly to inquiries.
  • Event Support : Coordinate logistics for in-house events, workshops, and meetings (e.g., catering, setup, AV).
  • Community Experience : Cultivate a professional yet inviting atmosphere where members feel supported and able to collaborate effectively.
  • Administration : Manage invoices, track usage data, and manage other operational records.
  • Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in office administration, hospitality, or operations (coworking or event space experience a plus).
  • Experience planning and coordinating events (workshops, talks, social gatherings), with an eye for both logistics and guest experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to engage warmly with diverse members.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to handle unexpected challenges.
  • Experience working with Google Suite, Slack, Notion, and AirTable.
  • Comfortable working in a startup-like, evolving environment, where responsibilities of the role will change as the hub evolves.
  • Bonus : Interest in social impact work and philanthropy.
  • Application Process

  • Application : Submit an application by October 26th
  • Screening call : Attend a brief screening call, where you’ll have the chance to ask questions about the role.
  • Interview : Attend a remote interview to assess team fit.
  • Work trial : Attend a paid work trial - where you’ll spend the day meeting the team and completing further assessments.
  • References : Share references who can comment on your aptitudes. If your references are strong, you’ll receive an offer!
  • Diversity and Inclusion

We are committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of background.

There is evidence to suggest that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they meet every one of the qualifications as described in the job description. If this role speaks to you, we encourage you to apply, even if you don’t believe you tick all the boxes. We’d especially like to encourage people from underrepresented backgrounds to apply.

There’s no such thing as a “perfect” candidate. If you’re on the fence about applying because you’re unsure whether you’re qualified, we’d encourage you to apply.

In Summary : Full-time (6–9 month contract with potential for extension) Salary $70,000–$75,000 (with flexibility to go higher for exceptional candidates) In-person 9 : 00 to 5 : 00 plus events, some overtime expected with events .
