We are seeking an experienced Solar Electrical Superintendent to support a major utility-scale solar project in Michigan. This role is responsible for leading all on-site electrical construction activities, ensuring safe, high-quality, and on-schedule execution of the full electrical scope.
About the Role
The superintendent will coordinate closely with project management, engineering, construction leadership, subcontractors, and commissioning teams throughout the project execution phase. This is a 1-year W2 contract with the opportunity to extend as work continues through 2027.
Responsibilities
Site Leadership & Coordination
- Lead and supervise all electrical field operations, including DC, AC, MV, and communication systems.
- Coordinate with project management, engineering teams, and other discipline superintendents.
- Conduct daily / weekly field coordination meetings to ensure alignment across stakeholders.
- Manage electrical materials, equipment, logistics, storage, and laydown areas.
Safety & Compliance
Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, and site-specific requirements.Conduct toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and routine field safety inspections.Report and investigate incidents or near misses and implement corrective actions.Quality Assurance & Technical Oversight
Ensure all electrical work complies with engineered drawings, specifications, NEC codes, and EPC standards.Perform inspections on string wiring, combiner boxes, inverters, transformers, MV systems, grounding, and fiber / DAS systems.Work with QA / QC to resolve non-conformances and maintain accurate as-built documentation.Scheduling & Productivity
Maintain and monitor three-week look-ahead schedules for electrical construction.Track progress to ensure alignment with project milestones and EPC timelines.Support commissioning and coordinate utility interconnection activities.Identify schedule risks or productivity challenges and develop mitigation plans.Resource & Subcontractor Management
Manage subcontractors, field labor allocation, and performance in line with project standards.Forecast labor, tools, equipment, materials, and coordinate with procurement teams.Build strong working relationships with subcontractors and field personnel to ensure smooth execution.Documentation & Reporting
Complete daily field logs, inspection reports, redlines, and progress documentation.Support RFIs and work with engineering teams to resolve field issues.Assist with turnover package development and project closeout.Qualifications
5+ years of electrical construction experience.2–3 years in utility-scale solar preferred.Previous experience as an Electrical Superintendent, General Foreman, or Electrical Supervisor.Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and medium-voltage systems (5kV–35kV).Ability to interpret one-lines, drawings, and technical specifications.Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.Experience working on EPC projects.
