Budget & Purchasing Coordinator

Location : Harris County TX

Pay Rate : 22.50 / hr

About the Role

Harris County Precinct 2s Grants & Nonprofit Department is hiring a Budget & Purchasing Coordinator to support budgeting purchasing and financial reporting activities. This role ensures compliance with county policies and helps drive efficient use of funds for community-focused programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee purchasing processes including preparing and processing purchase orders
  • Ensure all purchasing activities comply with county policies and procedures
  • Track and monitor departmental expenditures to maintain budget alignment
  • Identify and report budget variances promptly
  • Utilize Qualtrics for survey creation data tracking and reporting
  • Train and support staff on grants budgeting and Qualtrics use
  • Generate and analyze financial reports to support leadership decisions
  • Maintain organized and secure electronic and physical financial records
  • Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Business Administration or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in purchasing budgeting or financial coordination
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Work Environment

    This position operates in a professional office setting using standard office equipment. The role is primarily sedentary but may require lifting up to 50 lbs and occasional standing or bending for filing.

    Note : This position may be required to work before during or after an emergency or disaster as part of the departments emergency response responsibilities.
