The facility has 58 licensed beds and does not have a trauma designation. Travelers must reside more than 50 miles from the facility. The unit has 33 beds. Patient types and common diagnoses include stroke rule-outs, pneumonia, cellulitis, failure to thrive, altered mental status, chest pain rule-outs, atrial fibrillation, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 5 to 1 : 6. LPNs take primary nurse assignments. CNAs are assigned at a ratio of 1 : 8 to 1 : 12. Support within the department includes CNAs to assist with activities of daily living, vital signs, and telemetry monitoring. Receptionists handle call triage and assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers. Charge nurses typically do not have patient assignments. Phlebotomy services are available, as well as IV / VAT team support. Respiratory therapy is available 24 / 7, along with hospitalist support. Telemetry monitoring is managed from the nurses' station and a central monitoring area. Staff may be required to float to other facilities within the region and scope of practice. If floating mid-shift, travelers will be compensated for travel time between locations while remaining on the clock. Schedule includes a weekend rotation every other week, and travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays, and must be added to the end of the contract if contracted hours are not met. Shift times may vary between day or night shifts. Unit culture emphasizes teamwork and high regard for patient experience. Scrub color required is navy blue.
