Travel Nurse RN - Medical-Surgical - $2,242 per week in Omaha, NE

A minimum score of 90% is required to pass, or termination will occur. Candidates must not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization. Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. Refusal to comply with the nail policy will result in termination of the contract. A driver’s license is required for submission to verify the radius rule. Travel experience is preferred but strong candidates without it will be considered. Department serves medical / surgical tele patients, including strokes and stable neurological deficits. The unit has 25 beds with a nurse to patient ratio of 1 : 5-6. Common diagnoses include joint replacements, fractures, COPD exacerbations, and pneumonia. RNs are required to titrate selected drips such as heparin and lidocaine. Charge nurses are present on each shift and do take an assignment. Patient care techs are utilized with a ratio of 1 : 10-20. Tele techs will interpret strips; RNs should maintain some tele awareness. Shifts include 0630-1900 and 1830-0700 with some opportunities for block scheduling. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend. Holiday requirements involve working 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year’s. Floating to other medical surgical areas may be required based on patient needs. Scrubs are navy blue, and RNs are expected to adhere to the dress code. Successful candidates demonstrate strong attendance, teamwork, and compassion for patients. The unit serves a diverse patient population, requiring cultural competence. Mechanical lifts are available in some rooms, and there is a focus on hourly rounding. This role demands managing a busy patient load with multiple discharges and admissions daily. Charting is conducted using an electronic system. A BSN is not required for this position. The care setting is acute and falls within the nursing division. Required certifications are BLS and NIHSS.
