Call responsibilities include about 5-8 overnight call slots and 1-2 weekend call slots within an 8-week schedule. Call hours may vary based on staffing, requiring a response within 30 minutes.

Major Responsibilities :
Ensure a clean, safe, and efficient environment for optimal patient care.Utilize aseptic techniques in preparing materials, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures.Set up the operating room by moving equipment, preparing instruments, and maintaining a sterile field.Assist the surgical team by holding retractors, passing instruments, and anticipating the surgeons' needs.Notify staff of any equipment or supply issues promptly.Transport patients and equipment safely.Maintain and ensure the completeness of specialty carts and items.Apply proper techniques for patient positioning and transport duties.Demonstrate knowledge of patient care appropriate to different ages.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required within 6 months unless deemed unnecessary by the department leader.Education Required :
Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology.Experience Required :
No prior experience is required.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Understanding of aseptic techniques and equipment used in the operating room.Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.Basic computer proficiency.Maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications.Physical Requirements :
Ability to work in a stressful, fast-paced environment.Lift up to 50 lbs. and carry up to 40 lbs. over a reasonable distance.Push / pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform patient transfers with assistance.Exposure to potential hazards in the operating room.Maintaining functional sight and hearing is essential.Ability to wear protective gear and operate necessary equipment throughout the work shift.This job description outlines the nature of work expected and is not exhaustive of all duties performed.
