Job Title : Registered Nurse Profession : Nursing Specialty : Labor & Delivery Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift : 12 hours Experience : Minimum of 2 years License : Required Certifications : BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Must-Have : - Experience in titrating drips (e.g., Oxytocin, Insulin, Magnesium Sulfate) - Ability to manage inductions, epidurals, and various types of labor (natural, water births) - Experience in postpartum care for mothers and babies - Experience with high-risk antepartums and women's surgical cases Description : Registered Nurses will be responsible for providing care in the Labor and Delivery unit. The unit typically accommodates various patient types, including those experiencing inductions and high-risk pregnancies. The RN will participate in managing critical situations and supporting mothers throughout labor and delivery. Nurses will work alongside surgical technicians and other support staff, ensuring safe patient care. A charge nurse or house supervisor will be present for guidance and support when necessary. There are monitoring systems in place, and RNs will be trained to read and interpret strips if needed. Staff may be required to float between the Labor and Delivery unit and postpartum areas. Call requirements are in place, and staff must be available within 30 minutes when placed on call. Weekend and holiday work is required, following a set schedule. Navy blue scrubs are to be worn, with the possibility of changing into hospital scrubs if necessary. The hospital facilitates a supportive work environment for staff and prioritizes patient-centered care.
