Infrastructure Engineering Inc's (I E I) Chicago office is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Team! We are a multi-disciplinary Prime consulting firm that focuses on the delivery of design engineering, program management, and construction engineering and inspection services. IEI cultivates various types of engineering projects from conception and planning through implementation. As the Quality Engineer you are responsible for developing, proactively managing the implementation, and assuring project team adherence to the program / project quality management plan in accordance with client and AECOM-HNTB JV Quality Management System requirements. When necessary, may also require compliance with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) or Owner requirements. Utilizes expertise to improve quality performance, consistency and manage risk. - Participate in work planning collaboratively with client and PM team to determine the level of effort required for quality management
- Review and approve subconsultant quality plans, and those of other entities under contract to the client, when necessary. Monitor and ensure adherence by PMC program / project staff and subconsultant to the project quality plan and report on compliance internally and to client (when required), including assisting with the identification and mitigation of quality related risks
- Work with client, project, and Design-Build (when necessary) quality leadership to develop and implement technologies and processes to achieve effective quality management of deliverables
- Implement quality performance metrics to achieve client quality management objectives
- Develop and oversee the delivery of program / project quality management plan training
- Manage and implement a quality audit program
- Manage a corrective action system to identify and implement opportunities for improvement
- Perform other duties as assigned
To Be Successful :
Bachelor's degree in quality management / engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other related math / science or project management discipline and8 years demonstrated experience managing a quality program, including experience auditing programs / projects in the planning, design, and / or construction phasesIn lieu of education, 12 years’ experience in a quality management positionRegistered Professional Engineer PreferredPMP, DBIA, AICP, or CMAA Certification PreferredMust have experience implementing quality management plans in compliance with ISO 9001 and / or FTA Quality Management System requirementsWorking knowledge of the principles and practices related to quality management on capital programs or projects. Practical knowledge of the implementation of quality management plans meeting ISO 9001 and / or FTA Quality Management System requirementsSuperior communication skills requiredRisk assessment and mitigation skillsASQ Certified Quality Auditor or Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence PreferredSuperior interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and collaborate with owners, clients, managers, consultants, sub-consultants, and technical staffBenefits and Perks :

IEI will provide a company vehicle for fieldwork with acceptable driver's record.Must be physically capable of walking and moving about on the construction sites, have good hand-eye coordination, and occasionally lift / move up to 50 pounds.Occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions or in-progress construction hazards : fumes, toxic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and vibration. Often works around dust, asphalt, and concrete.Sometimes needs to put in extra hours, including weekends, to keep up with intense construction work at times and deal with unexpected situations and accidents.Spends some time working indoors to review blueprints and write reports.Usually works a standard 40-hour workweek either daytime or nighttime.Usually works in outside weather conditions.Work Environment : The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
