Our challenge

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Snowflake Developer to design, develop, and oversee our enterprise data warehouse solutions on Snowflake. The ideal candidate with a strong background in data architecture, database administration, and cloud data platform implementations. As a lead, candidate will guide technical teams, define best practices, and ensure the scalable, secure, and efficient operation of our Snowflake environment.

Additional Information

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with the law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $120K to $130K / year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities :

  • Design & Architecture : Architect end-to-end data solutions on Snowflake, aligning with enterprise data strategy. Develop data models, schemas, and pipelines to support analytics and reporting needs. Guide the team on Snowflake best practices, optimized data storage, and query performance tuning.
  • Development & Implementation : Lead the development of ETL / ELT processes, utilizing Snowflake features such as Streams, Tasks, and Snowpipe. Implement data transformation logic, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security. Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions.
  • Administration & Optimization : Manage Snowflake environments, including user access, roles, security, and resource provisioning. Monitor performance, optimize query execution, and manage cost-efficiency. Implement data governance and compliance policies.
  • Leadership & Collaboration : Lead and mentor a team of Snowflake developers and data engineers. Define technical standards, documentation, and best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including cloud architecture, security, and infrastructure.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement : Stay updated on Snowflake features, cloud technology trends, and data management best practices. Drive automation and process improvements to enhance deployment and operational efficiency.

Requirements :

  • 12+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 5+ years specifically in Snowflake.
  • Proven experience in architecting, deploying, and managing Snowflake data warehouses at scale.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, Python, or other programming languages relevant to data engineering.
  • Extensive experience in data modeling, ETL / ELT design, and data governance.
  • Deep understanding of cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and their integration with Snowflake.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake features like zero-copy cloning, data sharing, data marketplace, and secure data sharing.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI / CD pipelines, and automation tools.
  • Knowledge of database administration, security, and compliance standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Preferred, but not required :

  • Snowflake Certification (e.g., SnowPro Advanced Data Engineer)
  • Experience with DataOps, Data Lakes, and Data Governance frameworks.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies and other cloud data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Redshift).
