Job description

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI‑powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting‑edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Legal team is responsible for providing legal and compliance guidance and support covering all aspects of Anduril’s rapidly growing business, ranging from negotiating license and services agreements, to bid protests and litigation, to handling intellectual property, compliance and employment matters. You will represent the legal team in relationships with outside counsel, vendors, engineers, executives, customers, and regulators.

ABOUT THE JOB

Anduril is a fast‑growing company at the early stages of growth. Consistent with this fast growth, members of Anduril’s Legal Team must be resourceful, creative, and eager to take ownership of complex matters. We are looking for an Environmental Attorney—Legal Counsel, Compliance—who can use his / her creativity and resourcefulness to work across most aspects of Anduril’s business, managing a full spectrum of environmental, health and safety issues. This requires a strong understanding of U.S. federal, state and local environmental, safety and health laws with the ability to digest and navigate similar laws in multiple jurisdictions outside of United States, including the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and other international locations where Anduril operates. In addition to handling environmental, health and safety issues, you will also support other regulatory compliance areas involving maritime, aerospace, and defense sectors. Experience across all of these areas is not expected, but a willingness to learn and adapt is.

The Environmental Attorney—Legal Counsel, Compliance will be expected to take responsibility for material projects which will have a significant impact on the company’s business. Our team is passionate about the law and policy of defense technology and you should have an independent interest in the key issues in this field. Anduril fosters a diverse, collaborative culture with tremendous opportunities for ownership and professional growth. This position reports to the Associate General Counsel, Compliance, and will be based in Costa Mesa, CA or Washington, DC.

You will focus on the full spectrum of compliance and regulatory issues in the maritime, aerospace, and defense sectors. Of particular interest will be legal or compliance experience involving environmental licensing and emissions. And, at Anduril we exercise our technologies in both civil and defense environments. This role includes understanding our products, customers and operations to inform short term needs as well as shape longer term strategic planning in this area across our design laboratories, production facilities, and test sites.

This position will require knowledge in the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and also the ability to provide environmental, safety, and health (“ES&H”) legal advice, counsel and service to the Anduril ES&H program. Additional areas of focus that Anduril desires are compliance experience with cybersecurity and cloud computing; FAR / DFARS supply chain; or privacy and information security. This includes everything from providing legal oversight to product development, giving legal guidance to existing business areas, to crafting legal and business strategies. The Legal Team partners closely with customers, outside counsel, and business partners across the organization to support business development and day‑to‑day legal operations.

This position requires someone who is conversant in U.S. federal environmental, safety and health laws with the ability to understand and react quickly to compliance issues from business locations in multiple jurisdictions, including the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and other international locations. This includes experience in the environmental licensing and regulation of the construction of new facilities and emission systems across the United States. An ideal candidate will be able to research U.S. federal, state, local and international ES&H and product / chemical safety laws quickly and thoroughly to provide compliance, liability, and business risk / opportunity advice. The Environmental Attorney—Legal Counsel, Compliance will be expected to take responsibility for significant material projects which will have a significant impact on the company’s business. Our team is passionate about the law and policy of defense technology, and you should have an independent interest in the key issues in this field. Anduril fosters a diverse, collaborative culture with tremendous opportunities for ownership and professional growth.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Use your expertise in compliance to help the Business Development, Proposal, and Engineering Teams efficiently innovate new products, capture new contracts, grow existing contracts, and ensure timely and uninterrupted performance.
