Director Of Housing Services
SNAP is seeking a qualified individual for a Director of Housing Services position to work in SNAP's Housing Services Core. The Director of Housing Services is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and plays a key role in mission execution. We seek someone who brings a powerful combination of leadership, people skills, creativity, innovation, construction, project management, nonprofit experience and business savvy in residential construction and energy conservation who can hit the ground running. Capable of acting at both the strategic and tactical levels in a complex, highly regulated environment, the Director manages a $9+ million annual budget and oversees four direct reports and approximately 30 employees across three programs : Weatherization, Home Repair and Rehabilitation, and Energy Conservation Education. In 2024, the team completed more than 293 home repairs, weatherized more than 293 units, and completed major rehabs on more than 16 homes. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). The ideal candidate is an accomplished professional and seasoned people manager who has experience with risk management thinking, problem solving as well as knowledge of home rehabilitation, weatherization and energy conservation. They radiate confidence, compassion, approachability and possess exceptional judgment, strong interpersonal skills with a calm presence.
Position Summary :
Responsible for the leadership and operation of the Housing Services Core, including housing rehabilitation and repair, weatherization, and conservation education programs. Centers equity in decision-making and strategically plans for the future of the Core and programs. Works collaboratively to advocate for and support wraparound services for clients.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities :
- Supervise the development, delivery, and evaluation of housing services programs at the service delivery level.
- Actively works on process improvement for programs and services.
- Provides technical, financial, and staffing oversight to all Core programs.
- Guide team on delivery of services that are in line with agency initiatives on equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Design staffing plan for the Core that addresses current and future needs.
- Selects, trains, supports, supervises, and evaluates assigned staff.
- Ensure team members receive job-related orientation and training.
- Assist managers in the selection, training, and evaluation of personnel performance.
- Establish clear expectations for performance, support employee professional development, and hold employees accountable for their work performance, processes, contracts, and results.
- Create and manage complex budgets from multiple funding sources in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Ensure expenditures are within budget.
- Communicates financial position with the leadership team frequently and uses financial review to make data-driven decisions.
- Authorizes purchases in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
- Performs monthly salary allocations.
- Research opportunities for and complete grant award proposals.
- Works closely with team members to explore and develop resources, grants, and programs targeted towards the needs of their operations.
- Create a culture that allows for innovation and implementation of strategic initiatives.
- Stay connected to changes in the field and with funders that impact Core work.
- Seek opportunities for process improvement within program operations.
- Establish and maintain productive working relationships with federal, state, and local government officials, community representatives, and other service providers.
