POSITION TITLE : Community Development Partner Specialist

DEPARTMENT / LOCATION :  District Support / Community Development / Mill Creek Campus

HOURS OF WORK / CALENDAR :  242 days- 12-month schedule

STATUS :  Classified – Non-Exempt, Full Time

HOURLY RATE :  $20.75

POSITION SUMMARY :  The position is responsible for : organizing community development activities by communicating information with partners, district staff and the local community. The position supports the Olathe Public Schools Alumni Association (OPSAA) and Retired Employee Association (OPSREA), communicating with and tracking Adopt-A-School partners, support community organization civic group projects and facilitating business partner student posting needs. The position is part of the Community Development team and reports to the Director of Community Development.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Supports Adopt-A-School partnership for school sites. Assist with recruitment, retention, and recognition of community partners.
  • Maintains partner database for Adopt-A-School.
  • Creates and sends newsletters and routine social media for partner programs.
  • Support staff liaison for OPSAA by attending alumni meetings and events, supporting recognition event tracking and oversees alumni database.
  • OPSREA staff support for retired employee association fundraisers, membership tracking, database, and special event coordination.
  • Point of contact for community partner special events and tracking reservations.
  • Assist with coordination and communication of monthly community organization meetings for district civic group partners.
  • Track and communicate area business partner student job postings.
  • Oversee event and membership reservations and financial reports to Alumni and Retired Employee board of directors and committee chairperson.
  • Compilation of data from an extensive variety of electronic sources for reports.
  • Schedules projects, functions, and / or program components for the purpose of completing activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Bachelor’s degree in job-related areas.
  • Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

  • Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High degree of motivation, responsibility, and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability in compiling, organizing, and analyzing data.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly collaborative team player
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement and follow up as necessary to achieve desired results.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

    The position requires light work. The position involved typing, moving boxes with product orders, and standing. The position requires occasionally moving between buildings and at times remaining in a stationary position.

    The position is performed in a generally hazard free environment and a clean atmosphere.
