Competency in maintaining sterile fields is crucial for success. Each nurse will undergo educational sessions on lifts, restraints, and wound care, which may differ by facility. Unit has a high patient acuity with a variety of complex cardiac cases, including recovery from cardiac surgeries. A significant number of bedside procedures are performed regularly. Nurses will float to other intensive care and telemetry units as needed. The typical patient ratio in telemetry units is 4 : 1. There is a strong presence of specialists on-call for critical situations. The job requires compliance with weekend and holiday shift rotations as part of the schedule.
