Job Title : Machine Shop Supervisor

Job Description

Join an innovative machine shop specializing in parts and tooling for the medical device industry as a Machine Shop Supervisor. In this role, you will lead and mentor a team of machinists, operators, and apprentices, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor machinists, operators, and apprentices through coaching and feedback.
  • Develop training plans for apprentices to advance their skills from manual machining to advanced CNC.
  • Perform advanced setups and precision machining, including programming CNC lathes, mills, and Swiss machines.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance of equipment such as lathes, mills, Swiss machines, grinders, and compressors.
  • Collaborate with the Quality team to improve inspection methods and uphold ISO 9001 and 5S standards.
  • Act as a liaison between the shop floor and management, working with Operations and Engineering to plan effectively.
  • Implement process improvements to reduce cycle time, scrap, and downtime.
  • Build and manage daily / weekly work center schedules based on priorities and deadlines.
  • Provide daily / weekly updates and complete necessary reporting.

Essential Skills

  • Machinist experience
  • CNC programming expertise
  • Experience in CNC Mill & CNC Lathe operations
  • Ability to machine small parts with tight tolerances
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a machine shop
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards
  • Experience in manual machining and lean manufacturing
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ machining experience and 3+ years as a lead / supervisor
  • Experience with Swiss style machining or live tooling
  • Experience in medical device manufacturing
  • Extensive CNC programming and manual machining experience
  • Strong ERP / MRP system knowledge, particularly Microsoft Dynamics

    Work Environment

    Work in a medium-sized, air-conditioned shop focused on medical device production, alongside 7-10 experienced machinists. The role requires hands-on guidance on the floor and reporting / meetings in the office. Personal protective equipment includes safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety shoes / boots.

    Standard hours are Monday to Thursday, 6 : 00 am to 4 : 30 pm, with potential Friday or Saturday work as needed for this salaried position.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Angleton, Texas.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $95000.00 / yr.
