Interventional Radiology Specialist

MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated Interventional Radiology Specialist to become part of our dynamic team!

This is a PRN position.

The ideal candidate will possess an active registration as a Radiology Technologist, showcasing strong verbal and written communication abilities along with the skill to work autonomously.

In this role, you will assist interventional radiologists during complex diagnostic and therapeutic angiographic procedures. You will provide necessary patient care and accurately document medical procedures to ensure efficient and effective patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities :

Conduct and assist with angiographic and interventional imaging procedures, including myelography, arthrography, and venography. Prepare and position patients while operating and monitoring imaging devices during procedures. Utilize immobilization devices and implement radiation protection measures effectively.

Evaluate radiographs for technical precision and quality, ensuring proper identification and filing of studies within patient film jackets.

Verify procedures performed as indicated by the physician on the superbill.

Utilize physical assessment skills and monitoring devices (pulse, respiration, blood pressure, EKG), along with intravenous care and aseptic techniques, to provide top-quality patient care.

Complete required quality control and assurance documentation, summarizing services rendered for statistical reports. Maintain adequate supply levels in procedure rooms and notify the responsible individual for replenishment as needed. Be prepared to take call on a rotating basis for after-hours and weekend coverage.

Qualifications :

Associate degree or 1+ years of formal training in an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program.

4+ months of professional experience performing angiography and other complex radiological examinations.

Must be certified through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
