Job description

Housekeeping Manager

We are seeking a dedicated Housekeeping Manager to oversee the janitorial and custodial department within a college facility. The role involves monitoring, managing, and leading two supervisors, 40 full-time cleaning service personnel, and up to 10 temporary employees. The supervisor will ensure the maintenance of APPA Cleanliness level 3 across 60+ residence halls, academic, administrative, and athletic buildings, covering a total of 1.28 million square feet of cleanable area. Additionally, the role includes tracking work assignments through a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for work orders, vendor management, invoicing, and timesheet management.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead and manage a team of supervisors, full-time cleaning personnel, and temporary employees.
  • Maintain APPA Cleanliness level 3 in residence halls, academic, administrative, and athletic buildings.
  • Oversee a cleanable area of 1.28 million square feet.
  • Track and manage work assignments through CMMS.
  • Handle vendor management and invoicing.
  • Ensure effective timesheet management.

Essential Skills :

  • Janitorial and custodial management experience.
  • Supervisory and management skills.
  • Experience with vendor relationships and invoicing.
  • Proficiency in work order software and CMMS.
  • Inspection and facilities management skills.
  • Strong customer service for vendor and leadership relationships.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications :

  • APPA Cleanliness experience.
  • 3-5 years of management or supervisory experience.
  • Experience in hotels, hospitality, casinos, or academic settings.
  • Union experience is a plus.

    Work Environment :

    The role is based on a vibrant college campus within a bilingual English / Spanish environment. You will report to the Associate Director of Facilities and work within a unionized setting.

    Job Type & Location :

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, California.

    Pay and Benefits :

    The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
