Senior SAP Finance Architect for Utilities Sector

Hybrid Remote - Requires occasional travel to Newark, DE

Your role in our success :

We are looking for a skilled SAP Finance Architect with high-level expertise in the Utilities industry to spearhead the design, development, and support of comprehensive finance processes in our SAP ecosystem. This position will concentrate on SAP S / 4HANA Finance (FICO) and its integration with essential edge systems such as Utilities International, PowerPlan, BlackLine, and other financial applications. The perfect candidate will possess extensive knowledge in FP&A, FERC accounting, allocation structures, and SAP IS-U integration.

What you'll be working on :

  • Designing and implementing thorough SAP Finance solutions that support business objectives and industry standards.
  • Configuring and enhancing SAP FICO modules including GL, AP / AR, Asset Accounting, Controlling, and COPA.
  • Establishing and supporting FERC accounting frameworks, allocations, and reporting needs.
  • Leading SAP Finance initiatives in large-scale transformation projects, including CIS and Billing Systems.
  • Developing and maintaining a strategic SAP Finance architecture roadmap to ensure scalability and regulatory compliance.
  • Overseeing integration activities between SAP Finance and various edge systems (Utilities International, PowerPlan, BlackLine, GIS, Payment, Bill Print, Credit and Collection applications, etc.).
  • Gaining a strong understanding of financial reporting requirements for month-end closes, SEC filings, and regulatory obligations.
  • Facilitating complex solution workshops with business and IT stakeholders.
  • Guiding and mentoring teams through WRICEF (Workflows, Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Extensions, Forms) design and implementation.
  • Assisting in post-go-live phases and managing issue resolution and continuous enhancements.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth system integration and data exchange.
  • Contributing to thought leadership through publications, white papers, and speaking opportunities.
  • Demonstrating strong expertise in SAP S / 4HANA Finance and its integration with adjacent systems.
  • Possessing in-depth knowledge of FP&A processes, FERC accounting, and allocation frameworks within SAP.
  • Having proven experience in the Utilities sector, including regulatory and compliance knowledge.
  • Gaining hands-on experience with document splitting, cost center accounting, internal orders, and profitability analysis (COPA).
  • Understanding Central Finance and SAP IS-U (Utilities) functionalities, including CIS, Billing, and meter-to-cash operations.
  • Having a solid grasp of integration points with other SAP modules.
  • Exhibiting excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrating the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage project timelines effectively.
  • Familiarity with the integration of PowerPlan, BlackLine, and Utilities International.

Who you are :

  • Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Accounting (with a strong IT background), or a related field.
  • Experience : Over 10 years in SAP Finance (FICO) with at least 3 full lifecycle implementations.
  • Possessing a regular driver's license.
  • Knowledge or certification in S / 4HANA, Scrum Master, and Agile methodologies.
  • Holding a PMP or comparable project management certification.
  • Having an ITIL certification for Service Delivery Management.
