Police Officer

The City of Hickory is seeking dedicated individuals to fill Police Officer positions. Officers qualify for an additional $2,484.15 in holiday pay. Applicants who have completed NC Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) are preferred, though those currently enrolled or planning to enroll are also encouraged. Sworn law enforcement agents from other states are welcome to apply.

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid NC Class "C" driver's license. The position involves patrolling an assigned area to preserve general order, directing traffic, and enforcing law. Officers must pass a physical examination and other examinations, and prefer applicants with good knowledge of laws and ordinances relating to arrest, search and seizure, traffic control, and modern police practices. Minimum age is twenty years. Applicants must not have been convicted of a felony and must undergo a thorough background investigation.
