Student Accessibility Services (SAS) is one of three departments comprising the Academic Achievement Center (AAC), the largest hub of student academic support services at Bridgewater State University.

Position Summary
The Assistant Director leads efforts in prospective and first-year student transition, persistence, and engagement. This role builds partnerships across the region and BSU divisions and departments including Student Life, Dual Enrollment, Early College, and more by co-creating identity-affirming, holistic supports that thoughtfully and effectively meet the needs of students newly transitioning to BSU.
Supervision Received : Reports to the Executive Director, Student Accessibility Services.
Supervision Exercised : Supervision of professional staff, graduate assistants, and student employees.
Tour of Duty : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00am-5 : 00pm (Saturday and Sundays as days off); This position is located on campus in Bridgewater, MA.
This position is eligible for hybrid / remote work in accordance with BSU remote work policy.
This is a full-time, 12-month APA position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.
Essential Duties
In this role, the candidate will have the opportunity to : - Actively advance a culture of accessibility, inclusivity, disability rights & advocacy throughout the Bridgewater State University community.- Build and sustain partnerships with local high schools, parent-advocacy organizations, Dual Enrollment, Early College, EXCEL, and relevant community organizations to promote informed transition planning and ensure accommodations are in place at the point of matriculation.- Provide individualized support for prospective and first-year students, including structured guidance, proactive check-ins, and coordinated referrals to academic advising, academic coaching and tutoring, mental health, basic needs, and other campus services.- Oversee programs and events that foster academic skill development, social-emotional growth, self-advocacy, and a strong sense of belonging, including the potential creation of a disability-centered Living Learning Community or other identity-affirming initiatives in partnership with Student Life.- Lead workshops, trainings, and presentations for students, families / supporters, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders to enhance awareness and inclusive practices.- Collect, analyze, and share data on student engagement and learning outcomes to inform continuous improvement and contribute to BSUs equity goals.- Ensure accurate and timely posting of events across campus platforms including EngageBSU.- Create and manage social media content for Student Accessibility Services.- Provide ongoing supervision for professional staff, student employees, and graduate assistants as assigned.- Oversee SAS assistive technology practices to ensure tools are effectively integrated into student support, regularly updated to reflect technologies commonly used in high schools, and introduced in ways that help new students transition smoothly and confidently to BSUs living and learning environment.- Manage a caseload of students as assigned.- Perform additional professional responsibilities that support the mission and operations of Student Accessibility Services.
