Summary :

The Lead Nurse Practitioner (NP )in the Pre-Surgical Testing Clinic oversees clinical operations and ensures optimal patient preparation for surgical procedures. This role combines advanced clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities, guiding NPs and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and patient centered care. In addition, provides leadership and guidance to the PST clinical staff, evaluates staffing needs, and oversees work schedules.

Responsibilities :

1. Conduct comprehensive pre-operative evaluations including medical history, physical exams, and risk assessments.

2. Order and interpret diagnostic tests to determine surgical readiness.

3. Identify and manage comorbidities or conditions that may impact surgical outcomes.

4. Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other specialists to develop individualized care plans.

5. Supervise and mentor NP staff within the clinic.

6. Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and evidence-based practices.

7. Monitor workflow efficiencies and patient throughput.

8. Participate in hiring training, and performance evaluations of clinical staff.

9. Serve as a liaison between surgical teams and hospital departments.

10. Facilitate communication to prevent delays and or cancellations.

11. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and protocols.

12. Lead initiatives to improve patient safety and satisfaction.

13. Maintains and Model the Organization's values.

14. Fulfills and adheres to all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

15. Performs other duties as required.

Other Information :

Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Must maintain 100 CME's over two years.

Physical Effort : Sedentary / light effort. May exert up to 10 lbs. force
