Position Details :
Excellent opportunity to join a team-oriented group of APPs and Neurologists caring for the neuromuscular patient population located in beautiful Peoria, IL at OSF HealthCare Neuroscience Institute. Outpatient practice consists of 14 Neurologists with 2 Neurologists subspecializing in Neuromuscle with one APP, looking to recruit one additional APP to join the Neuromuscle team. Our comprehensive neurological program is committed to educating, training, and mentoring APPs.
- Schedule 4 - 10s or 5 - 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday
- Predominantly outpatient service management of neuromuscle patients : The APP (Advanced Practice Provider) performs the following tasks in the outpatient setting :
Obtain a patient history
Perform a physical examinationConduct a comprehensive assessmentOrder, conduct and interpret diagnostic testsFormulate a diagnostic impressionDevelop and implement a treatment planMonitor the effectiveness of therapeutic interventionsPrescribe pharmacological agents and treatments and non-pharmacological therapiesFacilitate appropriate consultations and referralsProvide counseling and education to meet patient needsPractice Model :
2 Neurologists with subspecialty in neuromuscle and 1 APPOverview of the Neuromuscle Subspecialty : Outpatient neuromuscle clinics manage patients with disorders such as :
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)Myasthenia gravis (MG)Peripheral neuropathies (CIDP, diabetic neuropathy, GBS follow-up)Muscular dystrophies and myopathiesNeuromuscular junction disordersPost-critical illness weaknessThese patients often require longitudinal, multidisciplinary care involving neurologists, APPs, therapists, respiratory therapy, and palliative / supportive teams.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served.Licensed to provide either an advanced practice nursing services in the State of Illinois as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Nurse Practice Act] OR [physician assistant services as issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in accordance with the Illinois Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987 ("Act") Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and State of Illinois for prescribing of narcotics.BLS / ALS Certified Experience is preferred however; new graduates will be considered.OSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
