Nursing Care Position
The primary purpose of this job position is to provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident's assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisors.
Essential duties include : identifying residents before administering treatments, serving meals, etc., using only authorized abbreviations when recording information, reporting all changes in the resident's condition to the Nurse Supervisor / Charge Nurse, recording all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., in an informative and descriptive manner, reporting all accidents and incidents observed on the shift, agreeing not to disclose resident's protected health information, reporting any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access facility's information system, performing only those nursing care procedures that you have been trained to do, ensuring that the resident's room is ready for receiving the resident, greeting residents and escorting them to their room, introducing resident to his / her roommate, if any, and other residents and personnel as appropriate, making resident comfortable, inventorying and marking the resident's personal possessions, storing resident's clothing, assisting residents with packing their personal possessions when they are being transferred to a new room, or when being discharged, transporting residents to new rooms or to the receiving area, assisting with loading / unloading residents' to / from vehicles as necessary, creating and maintaining an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift, meeting with your shift's nursing personnel to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, and / or the improvement of services, reporting all complaints and grievances made by the resident, participating in and receiving the nursing report as instructed, following established policies concerning exposure to blood / body fluids, making beds as instructed, putting extra covers on beds as requested, measuring and recording temperatures, pulses, and respirations (TPRs) of residents, weighing and measuring residents as instructed, ensuring that residents who are unable to call for help are checked frequently, answering resident calls promptly, checking residents routinely to ensure that their personal care needs are being met, assisting residents with identifying food arrangements, recording the resident's food / fluid intake, keeping residents' water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water, performing after meal care, participating in and receiving the nursing report upon reporting for duty, performing all assigned tasks in accordance with our established policies and procedures, cooperating with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other facility personnel to ensure that nursing services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents, notifying the facility when you will be late or absent from work, reporting occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures governing accidents and incidents, assisting residents with daily functions, keeping residents dry, assisting residents in preparing for medical tests, assisting with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents, performing restorative and rehabilitative procedures, assisting in preparing the resident for a physical examination, checking each resident routinely to ensure that his / her personal care needs are being met in accordance with his / her wishes, observing and reporting the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdowns to prevent decubitus ulcers, reporting injuries of an unknown source, including skin tears, observing disoriented and comatose residents, recording and reporting data as instructed, performing special treatments, immediately notifying the Nurse Supervisor / Charge Nurse of any resident leaving / missing from the facility, using only the equipment you have been trained to use, reporting defective equipment to the Nurse Supervisor / Charge Nurse, maintaining the confidentiality of all resident care information, reporting known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information, reporting all allegations of resident abuse and / or misappropriation of resident property, and honoring the resident's refusal of treatment request.
This position has no supervisor responsibilities.
Qualifications include : education and / or experience as a minimum, an 10th grade education, ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees, ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations, ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, and must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with laws of the state. CPR Preferred.
