Common titratable / drip rates include Heparin, occasionally Nitro, Bivalirudin, Cardizem, and Insulin. Description : The department consists of a 29-bed medical surgical unit. Nurse to patient ratios are 1 : 4-5 during day shifts and 1 : 5-6 during night shifts. Common types of patients include those with orthopedic trauma, vascular issues, urology cases, neuro-spine surgeries, and Client oncology. Nursing assistants are available on the unit, with varying support across shifts. There are telemetry technicians monitoring patients around the clock, so nurses do not need to read strips. Charge nurses take assignments while house supervisors are present on all shifts. Respiratory therapy support is available, but there are no ventilators in use. All nurses are required to float to other medical / surgical units as necessary. Nurses are expected to provide vital signs and assist with activities of daily living during the night shift. Scrubs must be clean and professional; any color is acceptable. Training includes one day of computer training and one to two days of precepted floor orientation. Nurses must clock in and out at the facility.
