About the Role

The Company is seeking a Head of Comic Acquisitions to join their dynamic, fast-growing team. The successful candidate will be the strategic leader responsible for all purchasing decisions, consignment acquisition strategies, and collection procurement within the comic book industry. This role demands a professional with 7-10 years' experience in comic book collecting, dealing, or auction management, and a deep understanding of the market from Golden Age to Modern Age comics. The Head of Comic Acquisitions will lead a team in making expert valuations, and strategic acquisition decisions, and will be instrumental in driving revenue growth. The position requires a balance of passion for comic collecting and the ability to apply data-driven acquisition strategies, making it essential for the candidate to have strong business acumen and a proven track record in high-value collection assessment and acquisition.

Key responsibilities for the Head of Comic Acquisitions include leading all consignment and purchasing decisions, managing multi-million dollar annual acquisition budgets, and ensuring the team is meeting revenue and profitability targets. The role also involves mentoring the business development team, maintaining oversight of the CRM team, and collaborating with the operations and fulfillment manager to align acquisitions with operational capacity. The ideal candidate will have a background in comic book auctions, consignment management, or collectibles trading, and will be adept at strategic thinking, and relationship building, and have exceptional interpersonal skills. The Head of Comic Acquisitions will be expected to make critical decisions based on market demand, storage capacity, and cash flow considerations, and to develop and execute data-driven acquisition strategies that optimize GMV growth while maintaining target profit margins.
