Job Summary

The Senior Manager of Payroll will oversee a dynamic team engaged in all aspects of payroll processing including incentive compensation, stock-based compensation, payroll taxes and other withholdings. This role requires a strategic leader with a deep understanding of payroll systems including state, local and federal compliance. A successful candidate will be well versed in managing the payroll process for a large enterprise (70,000 team members). Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) experience is highly preferred. This candidate will oversee and manage the accounting aspects of the payroll function including journal entries, account reconciliations and account analysis. Collaboration will occur with internal and external auditors, business process outsourcing partners and other departmental leaders in the organization. This role serves as a key member of the Accounting Team and will report directly to the Senior Director of Payroll & Disbursements.

Your Role

• Lead and manage the payroll team members ranging from data entry and phone support to accounting professionals and financial analysts, providing development, guidance and support (including problem-solving, resolving issues and removing obstacles)
• Direct oversight of key payroll leaders as well as oversight and governance of business process outsource team members. Partner closely with the offshore payroll processing team to ensure accurate and timely execution of payroll tasks and provide quality review of offshore deliverables
• Oversee the processing of payroll for 70,000 domestic employees, including hourly, salary, and special payroll processing (i.e. bonus and incentive compensation plans). ensuring accuracy and timeliness payments and withholdings for taxes, garnishments, insurance benefits, retirement plan contributions etc.
• Manage the timely and efficient month-end closing process to ensure accuracy of financial data and account reconciliations
• Assist in governing calendar year-end payroll and payables processes, including W-2 and 1099 processing
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes affecting payroll and disbursements
• Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for all processes
• Utilize Oracle systems to enhance, streamline and optimize payroll operations and reporting by collaborating with the IT and Legal departments
• Establish and maintain appropriate controls over all processes to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial statement information. Conduct regular reviews to verify data integrity and compliance (with requisite documentation)
• Provide strategic direction and leadership for continuous improvement initiatives
• Oversight of key banking, tax, garnishment and paycard 3rd party relationships
