Accounting Analyst

The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA) is a political subdivision established by Chapter 1230 of the 2020 Acts of Assembly. VPRA is responsible for promoting, sustaining, and expanding the availability of passenger and commuter rail services in the Commonwealth, including all administrative and fiduciary responsibilities for Virginia's state-supported passenger rail services. The VPRA also funds Virginia Railway Express (VRE) and administers all capital expansion projects, infrastructure, and land acquisitions related to the $3.7 billion Transforming Rail in Virginia initiative, which will double Amtrak and VRE service in Virginia over the next decade. The VPRA acts as a "responsible public entity" for acquiring, constructing, improving, maintaining, or operating a "qualifying transportation facility" under the Public­ Private Partnership Act of 1995.

The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA) Accounting team is seeking an Accounting Analyst to play a critical role in supporting the mission and vision of the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority (VPRA) by contributing to the accuracy and efficiency of key financial processes. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this position supports the daily operations of the accounting team with a focus on payroll, accounts payable, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is proactive, communicates effectively, and is committed to providing exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders. This full-time position will work in VPRA's office in Richmond, Virginia.

Responsibilities :

• Process semi-monthly payroll for a staff of over 70 employees
• Support the accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors and employees
• Assist with the processing of travel and expense reimbursements
• Support accounts receivable processing, including invoicing and payment tracking
• Assist in the monthly analysis of revenue and expenses related to VPRA's partnership with Amtrak
• Collaborate with internal departments to resolve payment or reporting discrepancies
• Maintain documentation and records in accordance with established policies and audit requirements
• Other duties as assigned by the manager
