Description
As an Immigration Legal Assistant at Vasquez Law Firm, you will play a vital role in supporting our immigration attorneys and ensuring the smooth operation of our practice. You will assist clients in various immigration matters, including but not limited to family-based immigration, employment-based immigration, naturalization, asylum, and removal defense.
We're looking for an organized, detail-oriented, and experienced paralegal to play an important role on our immigration team. You'll draft petitions, waivers, Naturalization, Business visas, U visa, Vawa, T-visas, asylum, TPS, DACA, removal defense paperwork with USCIS, US embassies, and immigration courts. Responsibilities
- Draft petitions, waivers, Naturalization, Business visas, U visa, Vawa, T-visas, asylum, TPS, DACA, removal defense paperwork with USCIS, US embassies, and immigration courts
- Work with lawyers to prepare for trial by conducting research on legal articles, preparing and organizing exhibits, organizing and coordinating witnesses, filing motions, and assisting with client meetings
- Gather information about legal issues from the client in interviews
- Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence such as interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, complaints, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits under the guidance of a lawyer
- Organize our case filing systems to ensure all documents are properly sorted and easy to locate, and other administrative duties as needed

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or relevant certification in paralegal studies or a related field2+ years of experience working as a legal assistant, preferably in immigration lawStrong knowledge of immigration laws, procedures, and formsExcellent written and verbal communication skills in English (bilingual skills in Spanish or another language is a plus)Proficiency in using legal research tools and softwareAttention to detail and the ability to organize and manage multiple cases simultaneouslyStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clientsCandidates should possess high-level organizational skills and time-management skillsTalented communicator and writerExcellent organizational skills, and time-management skills3+ years of legal service experience under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm settingHave a strong understanding of the following forms and processes : I-130, I-485, N-400, I-765, I-131, I-526, I-589 consular processing of immigrant / nonimmigrant visas, and immigration court filingsUnderstand what documentation is required to support various immigration applications, and have extensive experience organizing application packets in accordance with legal requirementsBe familiar with concepts of immigration and nationality law, such as the requirements for non-immigrant and immigrant visas, admissibility, and deportationHave excellent writing skills, including a mastery of English spelling and grammarHave excellent communication and organizational skillsBilingual (English / Spanish)
