Overview

JST is seeking a Strategic Communications Strategist to join our team.

This is a full-time remote position. JST offers a full benefit package, a collaborative work environment and strong company culture. Veterans and military spouses are encouraged to apply. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Strategic Communications Strategist Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership and experts to develop comprehensive strategic communication plans aligned with organizational objectives and priorities. This involves strategic research, analyzing the communication landscape, identifying target audiences, and outlining key messages and tactics.
  • Submit communications plan and / or communications deliverables to Government for approval.
  • Implement integrated communication strategies through various channels, including traditional media, social media, websites and presentations. Ensure messages are timely, accurate, and aligned with organizational goals while considering operational security (OPSEC) requirements.
  • Work with key internal subject matter experts to brainstorm content ideas in line with strategy and in support of various brand initiatives. Increase stakeholder knowledge about program performance and management objectives.
  • Facilitate internal communication within the organization. Develop internal communication materials to keep personnel informed about initiatives and achievements. Foster a sense of unity and morale among members.
  • Stay updated on emerging communication trends, best practices and technologies.
  • Cultivate relationships and engage effectively with ecosystem stakeholders, including other government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and industry partners. Collaborate on joint communication initiatives, partnerships, and efforts to enhance the reputation and achieve mutual objectives.
  • Analyze communication efforts to identify effectiveness of programming against planned measurable outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and manage strong and complex relationships across cross-functional teams as part of a central organization.
  • Collaborate across the Strategic Communications team to ensure a cohesive and strategic message.
  • Ensure consistency of the brand, message and communication of all products.
  • Participate in discussions and meetings to gather critical information that is key to product development and provide tactical and strategic knowledge in the area of expertise to better inform team members and further the goals and priorities.
  • Understand target audiences and tailor products to resonate with audiences to demonstrate the value.
  • Travel is required and expected based on the need to connect with ecosystem partners, and to educate and inform on programs.
  • Creates and manages integrated communication plans for communications products (campaigns, events, projects) that align with organizational goals and key stakeholders.
  • Assess requirements to determine if there are cross-collaboration and cross [1] organization opportunities.
  • Leads messaging and content strategy for various communication platforms (e.g., press releases, social media, internal communications, intranet, ect).
  • Ensure consistency in communication across all communications channels, both internal and external.
  • Ensure messaging is tailored to the correct target audience.
  • Collaborate with division leaders, internal stakeholders, and external partners to understand their needs and deliver targeted communication strategies.
  • Foster a strong relationship with employees and key internal stakeholders through effective communication.
  • Ensure that content is aligned with brand guide and organizational objectives.
  • Support content creation teams, including writers, designers, and video producers.
  • Serves as the point of contact for StratComm embedded within the assigned division / organization / program. Fully understands division goals and objectives.
  • Proactively uses communications expertise to assess demand signals or requests, determine best communication channel(s), create project plans, and provide recommendations.
  • Tracks and measures the effectiveness of communication strategies identified, using analytics tools to evaluate reach, engagement, and outcomes.
  • Regularly report on the success of communication campaigns and adjust strategies based on data insights.
  • Use feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve communication strategies.
  • Stay current with communication trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Recommend new tools, tactics, and processes to improve communication effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Strategic Communications Strategist Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in program management, or related field, preferably within a military or government context.
  • Preference Master's degree in, business administration (MBA), organizational management, strategic management or program / project management.
  • Skill in extending narratives across various media channels to achieve communication goals and objectives.
  • Strong strategic planning and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and networking skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and evaluation techniques to measure the impact and effectiveness of communication efforts.
  • Ability to think critically and make decisions, pays attention to detail, and has a self-starter mentality.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools to include Google Workspace.
  • Flexibility to work in fast-paced environments and adapt to changing priorities and have strong time management skills working under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a highly dispersed remote organization.
  • Clearance Requirements

  • MUST be able to pass a US Government Security Clearance.
