Position Overview : The Senior IT Systems Engineer will design, implement, and maintain complex IT infrastructure systems to support enterprise operations. This role involves managing various technologies, including operating systems, virtualization, security controls, compliance tools, disaster recovery, storage, and high-availability configurations. The candidate should be a technical leader ensuring system security, reliability, and scalability, mentoring team members, and aligning solutions with organizational goals. Work closely with IT Infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business teams to ensure high availability, security, and optimal system performance. Responsibilities : Design, implement, and optimize virtualization platforms for scalability and high availability. Assist in cybersecurity controls implementation to safeguard infrastructure. Manage and optimize operating system configurations for secure and reliable operation. Support network services and application management for system performance and availability. Perform patch management, updates, and system optimization to maintain security and efficiency. Collaborate with cybersecurity teams on patches and configurations. Provision and administer virtual machines, ensuring resource efficiency. Coordinate with business services to support infrastructure needs and service continuity. Provide technical support during incidents, resolving issues promptly. Conduct log reviews and audits to detect and resolve security threats and operational issues. Participate in infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for infrastructure operations. Provide on-call support for critical infrastructure to ensure operational continuity. Maintain compliance with industry regulations like NERC CIP and stay updated on standards. Create and maintain documentation of configurations, processes, and procedures. Prepare status reports for management and stakeholders. Required Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as computer science or IT. At least 8 years of IT experience. Hands-on experience with operating systems, virtualization, cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and hypervisors. Understanding of compliance and security standards for infrastructure management. Required Skills : Ability to apply security controls, perform vulnerability scanning, and implement endpoint security. Knowledge of network services (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) and firewall configuration. Deep understanding of OS management, troubleshooting, and logging. Experience managing virtual machines and performance monitoring tools. Skills in system patching, risk mitigation, and change management. Proficiency in scripting for automation and infrastructure as code. Strong documentation skills and knowledge of change management. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
