Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant

We have an exciting opening for a qualified Phlebotomist or Medical Assistant to fill a full-time position in our north Tampa clinic.

Under the supervision of the Lab Andrologist, the phlebotomist will collect blood from patients, administer urine pregnancy tests and perform clerical duties, as directed.

Hours : Monday - Friday, 7 : 15 AM- 4 : 00 PM

Essential Duties :

• Maintains patient confidentiality, including files and records.
• Printing testing requisitions.
• Follows the schedule and performs the tests ordered according to schedule and lab requisition.
• Labels each specimen tube with the appropriate identifiers : patient name, DOB, date and time of collection, ID number, and initials. Labels each tube by using EMR to print barcode / label. Packages and ships specimens when necessary.
• Processes blood specimens according to testing requirements appropriate to lab where testing is performed
• Handles biohazard materials.
• Sanitation, stocking and cleaning of exam rooms.

The ideal candidate will have excellent time management and organizational skills. This position requires independent judgment as well as the ability to work closely with a team of clinicians. Applicants must have excellent interpersonal skills; capable of multi-tasking and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment; computer and telephone skills required. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and be customer service driven. Previous medical office experience is preferred.
