Description :

Department : Emergency Room

Trauma Level : Critical Access

Number of Beds / Trauma Bays : 10 beds and 2 trauma bays

Triage Area : Yes, travelers will triage

Holding Area : Intermixed with the ER

Psych / Seclusion Rooms : One safe room with sitters available

Security : One security guard on site 24 / 7

Average Patients Treated Per Day : 35

Nurse to Patient Ratios : 1 : 4

Common Diagnoses : Chest pain, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, lacerations, STEMI, stroke

Patient Population : Pediatric and adult patients, including military personnel

Common Drips : Procedural sedation, TNK, and other common ER drips

Physician / Mid-Levels : One MD on site 24 / 7, one APP from 12 PM to 8 PM

Charge Nurse : Present 24 / 7, does not take patients

Support Staff : One CNA; sitters available upon request

Respiratory Therapy : Available 24 / 7

Equipment : Managed by respiratory therapy

Monitoring : RNs read strips and monitor

Imaging : X-ray and CT available, transported by radiology

Lab Draws : Typically performed by RNs

Shift Scheduling : 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, with flexibility for travelers

Weekend Requirements : Minimum of 4 per 6-week period

Holiday Requirements : Required as needed

Floating Requirements : None

Dress Code : Any color scrubs

Unit / Department Orientation : Yes, specific to the department
