Safety Program Manager - Pharmaceuticals - Ohio - 12-Month Contract

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Safety Program Manager to join our major, global pharmaceutical client on their latest new-build project based in Maryland, this is a large-scale greenfield capital project and investing more than $1bn.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develop, implement, and manage the overall safety program for the API manufacturing campus project, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and standards.
  • Create and enforce safety policies and procedures tailored to the specific needs of the project, ensuring all team members are aware of and adhere to these guidelines.
  • Conduct regular safety training sessions for all project personnel, including contractors and subcontractors, to promote a culture of safety and awareness.
  • Perform thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop effective mitigation strategies to prevent accidents and incidents.
  • Oversee the investigation of any safety incidents or near misses, ensuring thorough documentation and implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations, as well as company-specific safety standards.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in safety management for large-scale capital projects, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Proven experience managing safety programs for construction projects valued at $ million or more.
  • Demonstrable experience managing safety across a portfolio of projects, with strong multi-project coordination skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CHST) are a plus.
  • Proficiency in safety management software and tools, strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, and other relevant safety standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate safety issues and develop effective solutions.
