Summary of Position

The Workforce Services Division at RRCC is seeking a Cosmetology Instructor - Esthetics for our Adult Night School Program to instruct, support, and prepare students for entry-level employment and state licensure in the esthetics and cosmetology industry. The instructor is responsible for delivering engaging classroom and clinical instruction, maintaining a safe and clean working environment, ensuring compliance with industry and state board standards, and continuously updating curriculum to meet current industry needs.

This position reports to the Director of Workforce Services. The course schedule for this position is Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings from 4 : 00 pm - 8 : 00 pm at the Warren Tech Central Campus location. May require hours outside of normal course schedule.

This position may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to provide effective classroom and clinical instruction in esthetics and cosmetology.
  • Knowledge of Colorado State Board of Cosmetology regulations and CTE credentialing.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Skill in maintaining client / student safety, sanitation practices, and customer service operations.
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including industry partners, students, and staff.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and modern esthetic techniques and equipment.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications and office technology.
  • Ability to assess and track student learning and clinical progress.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and equity-minded instruction.

Required Qualifications

Must have a minimum of

  • Associates Degree in Cosmetology, Salon Management, or related field AND
  • Current Colorado Cosmetology License AND
  • Current Colorado Cosmetology Instructor License, AND
  • Has, or qualifies for, postsecondary CTE credential including 4000 non-teaching occupational hours within the last 7 years (2000 hours if at a Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certificates of completion of training programs in Cosmetology, Nail Technician, or Esthetician, AND
  • Current Colorado Cosmetology License, AND
  • Has or qualifies for, postsecondary CTE credentials including 4000 non-teaching occupation hours within the last 7 years
  • You must have the ability to obtain a Career Technical Education (CTE) credential in Personal Care Services by December 1, 2025.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Experience teaching in a postsecondary or CTE environment
  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills
  • Experience advising or mentoring students

  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports instructional materials and supplies weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • This role frequently involves standing, walking, bending, and reaching in a classroom or lab setting.
  • Dexterity required for operating esthetic tools, salon equipment, and handling fine instruments.
  • Constant verbal and written communication with students, faculty, and clients to exchange accurate information.
  • Cognitive demands include teaching, assessing, adapting instruction, maintaining records, coordinating services, and fostering collaboration.

    Advertised Pay

    The pay for this position is $1,149.00- $1,263.00 per credit hour, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need.

    This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.

    Medical insurance is offered to instructors and other variable hour employees who have worked, on average, at least 30 hours per week in a 12-month period. RRCC / CCCS uses an initial 12-month measurement period to determine medical benefit eligibility, and a 12-month standard measurement period. Student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours a week when classes are in session, and may work up to 28 hours a week, during academic breaks or breaks between terms at the discretion of the college, and non-classified hourly and temporary staff are limited to 28 hours in a workweek, depending on budget and need.
