SUPERVISOR :

Director or designee.

SUMMARY :

Responsible for electronic design, file creation and output operations necessary for the production of printed materials, as requested by students, parents organizations and employees of the district. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Use desktop publishing software to produce professional print and electronic materials to be delivered district wide and throughout the community. Integrate typography, photography, graphics and color schemes into an effective design and layout. Outputs files to a variety of digital devices or file formats.

2. Uses desktop color scanner. Scales, crops, manipulates photographs, creates masks, superimposes images and performs airbrush like functions. Draws vector-based illustrations from scans of customer supplied art or create original designs to meet customers’ need.

3. Uses O.C.R. software to scan text. Imports text from customer files using a variety of software tools.

4. Proofreads and inspects quality of all finished artwork.

5. Provides backup for print production and bindery functions.

6. Assists printing services support representative with telephone calls and customers.

7. Determine appropriate paper stock, finish size and format for each publication. Prepare files for output, includes checking color, fonts, photos and graphics for quality and correct format. Advise staff on printing specifications and paper, printing and bindery options.

8. Organizes and maintains electronic files.

9. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Preferred Field-of-Expertise : Associate Degree Graphic Arts or 3 years equivalent experience-focus on electronic design.

2. Associate Degree or equivalent in educational experience.

3. Basic math (add / subtract / multiply / divide).

4. Experience in graphic design and layout.

5. Typography.

6. Basic computer maintenance / software installation.

7. InDesign preferred / QuarkXpress considered.

8. Illustrator / Acrobat / Photoshop (Create Suite).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS :

All certifications, licenses, and registrations must be valid and unexpired.

1. Graphic design or marketing experience.

1. Light physical effort (lifting under 10 pounds).

2. Eye / hand coordination (e.g., typing, ten key).
