This is a part time position with fluctuating hours based on events

MISSION :

POSITION SUMMARY :

The Visitor Center Event Specialist (VCS) provides event support in the overall planning, organization, coordination and execution of events, conferences and meetings hosted at the Phoenix Indian School Visitors Center (PISVC).

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Establish a professional and welcoming atmosphere for visitors and renters of the Phoenix Indian School Visitors Center (PISVC)
  • Setting up and breaking down equipment for various PISVC events, including positioning tables, chairs, podium and other event related materials
  • Coordinating event attendee registration / check in and monitoring event flow for the event duration, open and close the building as needed
  • Clearing debris, trash and ensuring a clean post event space
  • Cleaning and maintaining the cleanliness of the Center
  • Stay current with daily scheduled events
  • Reports supplies and facility needs
  • Escalate items or issues beyond responsibilities to the Sr Director
  • Use Microsoft Excel and other programs to maintain PISVC inventory lists and other data
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATIONAL / WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT :

  • High School diploma / GED
  • SKILLS REQUIREMENT :

  • Knowledge and background of the Phoenix Indian School Visitor Center
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of the history of Indian Boarding Schools
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
  • Tact and poise when dealing with all visitors and community members
  • Working knowledge of computer software
  • Flexibility with scheduling of workdays / hours
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Able to sit, stand walk with / without accommodations.

    This position is considered to be Exempt for overtime pay provisions as provided by the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and any applicable state laws. Non-Exempt employees are entitled to overtime pay for hours worked in excess of forty (40) hours per workweek.
