The Respiratory Therapist (RT) is responsible for providing safe and effective respiratory care to patients with acute and chronic respiratory disorders. This role includes assessing, planning, and implementing treatment plans, administering therapeutic procedures, and collaborating with physicians and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Key Responsibilities Assess, plan, and deliver respiratory therapy treatments to patients with cardiopulmonary conditions. Administer oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, chest physiotherapy, and ventilator management. Set up, operate, and maintain ventilators and other respiratory care equipment. Monitor patient response to treatment and adjust therapy plans as needed. Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and analysis; report critical results promptly. Document assessments, procedures, and outcomes accurately in the EMR (EPIC or equivalent) . Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments and equipment use. Adhere to infection control and hospital safety policies at all times. Qualifications (Legally Required) Active California RCP (Respiratory Care Practitioner) License Required BLS (Basic Life Support) Required (American Heart Association) ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Required for ICU or critical care settings Minimum 2 years of recent acute care respiratory therapy experience Required Experience with ventilator management and critical care procedures Preferred
