Job Title : ICU RN Float Profession : Registered Nurse Specialty : Intensive Care Unit Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Night Hours per Shift : 12 Experience : Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience License : Required Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC Must-Have : Must have 2 years of ICU experience. Prefer prior travel experience. If a first-time traveler, must have 3 years of ICU experience and Epic experience. Description : Candidates should be prepared to float within the assigned zone. No home base facility is designated for this position. RNs may be asked to float to other acuity levels including ICU, PCU / Stepdown, and MS-Tele. The nurse-patient ratio is 1 : 1-2, depending on acuity. For high acuity patients, the ratio may flex to 1 : 3. RNs should be comfortable titrating critical drips such as pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, and insulin. No nurse aids are available; sitter needs only. Respiratory Therapists are designated for the ICU but may not be on the unit 24 / 7. RNs are expected to assist in troubleshooting respiratory needs. RNs are required to interpret their own telemetry strips; no monitor techs are present. Travelers should be flexible and may have to fill gaps in permanent scheduling. Weekend requirements are 6-9 shifts within a 6-week schedule. Holiday coverage may be needed. RNs may be asked to float to sister facilities within the same zone. Shifts are scheduled by leadership for a 6-week period. All time-off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment. Charting is done using Epic Systems Corporation - EpicCare Inpatient.
